Punching power %
There isn't a scientifically established percentage split for punching power by muscle—punching is a coordinated whole-body action. But as a rough biomechanical illustration, you could think of the contribution like this:
Body region Approx. contribution to punch force
๐ฆต Legs & feet 30%
๐ฆด Hips 25%
๐ง Core & torso rotation 20%
๐ช Shoulder & chest 10%
๐ฆพ Triceps/arm extension 8%
๐ช Biceps 2%
✊ Forearm/wrist/hand 5%
Total 100%
So the biceps might contribute only a small amount directly. The biggest contributors are generally the legs, hips and torso, with the arm acting largely as the final link that transfers the momentum.
These numbers should not be interpreted as measured physiological percentages; they are a conceptual way of showing the kinetic chain. Studies measuring boxing biomechanics generally emphasize lower-body and trunk contributions rather than assigning fixed percentages to individual muscles.
